...for Psion

Don't tell me you've got that stylus stuck again...

If you have a Series 5, you've probably come across this problem before. If not, you probably will at some point. The stylus for the Series 5 can get stuck in it's slot quite easily - in addition, the mechanism that holds the stylus in place can sometimes go awol - meaning lost stylii.

To free a stuck stylus, open the RS-232 connector on the rear of the machine. Once done, *gently* pull the lower half of the machine's case just below where it says "RS-232". Your pen should free itself.

If your stylus won't stay in, follow the same procedure. You should hear a 'click', (which signals the spring popping back into place), and you'll find your stylus will no longer fall out of it's slot!

Time for a reset?

What do you do if your Psion has crashed? Press Ctrl+Fn+Shift+K.- this should reset the machine and tidy up the crashed apps. If this doesn't help then you may have to carry out a 'soft-reset'. To do this, turn your machine off and poke & hold the reset button with a paper clip for a couple of seconds. Note: This may mean that some of your settings, (not data), will be lost!

If this still doesn't help then you may be in trouble, (but you have backups, right?). A Hard-reset is a last resort action as you will completely erase your trusty Psion. This may be useful if you're selling the machine...To do it, poke a paper clip into the reset hole as described above. Then, hold down both Shift keys and press Esc.

Once the machine is turned on, it will be just like new!
